How to Buy Property in Thailand?

The most common way for foreigners to own/purchase land/property here in Thailand is under Freehold Thai company structure, we deal with this on a regular basis and have a few different lawyers that we can recommend.

The lawyers job is to set up the Thai company, which takes a few days, appoint yourself and/or your partner as directors of the company, and protect your interests so that you have full control over the company/property. The cost is approximately 40,000THB.

You can also register yourself/partner as a maximum of 49% shareholder of the company.

You must have 51% Thai shareholders on the company, but you will be protected by documents which the lawyer will prepare on your behalf to give the Thai shareholders no control over the company/property.

Generally our clients choose to appoint Thai staff from the lawyers company, or you are free to appoint your own Thai nationals.
